Trips & Pricing - Shawmanee
Our goals: To provide a safe, affordable sailing experience for all who board and do so in an
environmentally friendly way. We try to reduce our use of fossil fuels, reduce refuse by not using
non recyclable paper or plastic products, recycling those products that can be and respecting the
marine habitat.
Itineraries:
3 hour sail (as opposed to "3 Hour Tour" which prompts everyone to start singing the theme
from
"Gilligan's Island")
In three hours we leave the dock after a safety briefing by the skipper, look at the wind
conditions and set sail as soon as we can...unless you want something different...this is a custom charter boat.
Depending on wind speed and direction we sail Bellingham Bay, Chuckanut Bay, Chuckanut (Dot) Island, Pleasant Bay maybe even get close to Lummi and Elisa Islands.
Three hours is a minimum time to sail a bit, eat and drink a bit, and soak up some of the Pacific
Northwest.
Full Day (8 hours)
In eight hours we can make a destination, anchor up, go ashore, explore a bit before we sail home.
A favorite choice is Cypress Island. A bit closer than Sucia Island there is still public land
to stretch you legs in a beautiful spot.
Multi Day (example)
Day One:
Cast off in late morning depending on tides and currents. Snack as we cross Bellingham Bay. Sail as much
as possible and eat lunch before arriving at Sucia Island. Explore the island, returning for barbequed salmon, Caesar salad, baguette and dessert.
Day Two: More time ashore. There is enough to do and see on this wonderful State Park Island some
may choose to spend another night on the hook there in Echo Bay.
If not, we're off to somewhere else. It just depends on what we feel like. If you like this type
of island experience we might go to Stuart Island. If you feel the need for civilization, we could
head to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. Feel like the Northwest resort crowd...it could be Roche
Harbor.
The rest of your time: Our favorite places include Blind Bay on Shaw Island, Garrison Bay on San
Juan (if the tide is high enough), Indian Cove on the south side of Shaw, Jones Island, Deception
Pass between Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands, La Conner. We are limited by your time, the depth of
water under our keel and the wind and currents.
Food
For day charters food is provided by your choice of professional caterers or your own "pot luck"
affair. Contact Kathy for coordination and suggestions.
Multi day charters are fed from Kathy's galley. An incredibly tasty and unending parade of
wonderful food begins shortly after boarding and doesn't stop until the final docking. Food
preferences, allergies etc are always considered.
Drink
With all our charters non alcoholic beverages, soda and bottled water are provided. Guests may
bring beer, wine and spirits.
Ice, glasses, plates, flatware napkins are always provided by us. We don't use paper or plastic.
(This makes for more dishes but less garbage in a landfill somewhere). (And, as Don's mom use to
say, things taste better on the good dishes.)
Please CONTACT US for current rates, schedules
and availability.
